After receiving a conditional offer of employment, applicants will partake in medical and psychological/mental assessments aimed to determine if the applicant is physically and mentally suitable to be a sworn member of the department. The assessments are completed by licensed medical personnel and at no cost to the applicant.
- These examinations are mandatory in order to be accepted into the State of Indiana’s 1977 Police Officers’ and Firefighters’ Pension and Disability Fund (“77 Fund”). The requirements to be accepted into the 77 Fund are established in the Indiana Code and include but are not limited to, baseline physical and psychological/mental health standards that reflect the essential functions of the job. - The background investigation will cover pertinent facts regarding your character, work history and any criminal records. A polygraph examination will be administered during this portion of the process.
