Sergeant Gregory Kessie grew up in a small town in Northern Indiana. He joined the Army National Guard at the age of seventeen and served as a Cavalry Scout deploying to Bosnia and Afghanistan. Upon his return, he graduated from Indiana University Indianapolis with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Sergeant Kessie joined the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department in 2007 as a member of the 2nd IMPD Class. He began his career serving on East District on middle shift before moving on to serve in a variety of roles across the department including Narcotics, the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force, Southeast District Violent Crimes Task Force, and the IMPD Mounted Patrol. Sergeant Kessie currently supervises the IMPD Recruiting Team. He enjoys spending time with his wife and daughters, being outdoors, and studying history.
